User Guide

Section 1. Language

The Language displayed is based on the designated Country. However, the Language can be manually changed by using the drop-down arrow and selecting an alternative from the provided list.. The Language selected will determine the language used throughout website. The Languages supported are English, French and Spanish.

Section 2. Instructions

To view simple instructions, click the Instructions button.

Section 3. Locate an Area of Interest (AOI)

The first step in searching for geospatial data is to locate the general area of interest in the interactive world map by using the Locate and Map Navigation buttons. The cursor's location in Latitude and Longitude will be displayed in the upper left corner. The UTM Zone identifies the zone number and the Scale field displays the ratio between a distance on the map and the corresponding distance on the earth. The AOI status (No AOI or sq. km. of the AOI) will also appear in this area.

Locate by Address, City, State, Country

Click on the Locate an Area of Interest button and a new dialog box will load. To search for a physical address, enter information in the appropriate boxes in the Address tab and click Locate. The Location will appear in the bottom box. If this is the correct address, click Zoom. The dialog box will close and the map will zoom to the address entered.

Locate by Coordinates

Click on the Locate an Area of Interest button and a new dialog box will load. Choose the Lat Long tab and enter the coordinates in decimal degrees or degrees, minutes and seconds. A Zoom Level, designating the initial zoom extent, can be selected at City Block, County or State level. Click Locate. The map will zoom to the coordinates entered. If the location is correct, click Close.

Locate by using Map Navigation Buttons

Use these buttons to maneuver around the map to find your area - Zoom In, Zoom Out, Pan, Zoom to Previous Extent and Zoom to Full Extent.

Section 4. Define your AOI

Once you have located the general area in the map, the next step is to define a more specific Area of Interest using the Area of Interest (AOI) Selection tools. This can be done using the Draw Rectangle AOI, Draw Polygon AOI or Open Additional AOI Options tools. The size of the AOI will be displayed in sq. km. in the upper left section of the application.

Draw Rectangle AOI

Drawing a simple rectangle is an easy way to define your AOI. Click the Draw Rectangle AOI tool to activate this operation. Place the pointer near your desired AOI. Using the left mouse button, click and hold, designating the location of the first corner of your rectangle.. Drag the pointer to the opposite corner and release the button to form the AOI rectangle.

Draw Polygon AOI

If your AOI is a polygon, you can use the Draw Polygon AOI option. Click the Draw Polygon AOI button to activate this operation. Click on the map to create vertexes for your polygon. When you have drawn the last vertex, double-click to close the polygon.

Open Additional AOI Options

Open Additional AOI Options button will create a rectangle based on Top, Left, Bottom and Right coordinates in decimal degrees (Geographic WGS84). Click the Open Additional AOI Options button to load the Provide an Area of Interest window and enter your values. Click either Update and Zoom or Update Only, then click Close.

Zoom To Your AOI

A properly designated AOI will be represented by shaded yellow area. This area will remain on the map throughout the request. Use the Zoom To Your AOI button to zoom to a closer view of your area of interest.

Reset Your AOI

To reset your AOI and create a new one, click the Reset Your AOI button. Designating a new AOI will update the My Order details with the new AOI information.

Section 5. My Order

Once your AOI has been created, the My Order section will be populated with Product, Number of Items, Sq. Km., Processing, Format, Projection and Price.

Product

The Product that can be currently ordered at SPOTMaps Store is SPOTMaps Mosaic.

Number (#) of items

The number of items in the order will be displayed here.

Processing

The type of Process will be displayed here.

Format

The type of Format will be displayed here.

Projection

The type of Projection will be displayed here.

Remove Product

Clicking on the (Remove) link will remove the order. This function will reset the AOI as well. To complete the removal, select Yes.

Section 6. Check Out

After the AOI has been designated and the My Order has been reviewed, the next step is to Check Out.

Proceed

To continue with the order, click Order. The Check Out Information dialog box will load.

Check Out Information / Billing Information

Billing and Shipping information will auto-populate based on the current user. However, the address can be edited in the Billing Information window. If you are ordering data as a Guest, fill out the form to continue. The items marked with a red asterisk (*) are required. Click Select to proceed to the Order Summary.

Check Out Information / Order summary

An Order Summary will load. Review the Order Summary, Billing Information and My Order details. To view detailed license information in a new dialog box, click the link General Supply Conditions. If the license is acceptable, check the box. To continue to the Payment Page, click Proceed. You will be directed to a website for entry of credit card information.

Order Emails

Several emails will be sent to the current user's email address and the email address entered into the Shipping Info.

"Job Confirmation "
An email with a subject of SPOTMaps Store - Order confirmation states that the order has been successfully ordered. The email will contain a summary of the job.

" Order ready for you to download "
An email with a subject of SPOTMaps Store - Order ready for you to download states that the order is complete and ready to be downloaded. The FTP site, username and password will be included in the email.
